Chapter 151 Dedicated Monument to Living Veterans

Chapter 151 recently installed a new monument to living veterans in Bayonne, NJ.

The monument is at Veterans Stadium of Bayonne High School. The stadium, built in the 1920s, is used by the school’s football and soccer teams, and for various city events.

Veterans Stadium has seen numerous upgrades over the years, and with the latest need for improvements the chapter decided to create a monument dedicated to all living veterans.

The Mayor approved the construction as well as funding for the monument. Chapter 151 President Tom Grodkiewicz and Treasurer John Zmyslowski developed the design for the monument. Tom’s daughter, Jill Grodkiewicz, contributed art designs for the engraving.

The monument dedication was in May and attended by over 100 community members and veterans.

The monument is the only one in the city dedicated to all of Bayonne’s living veterans, as other monuments are dedicated to fallen veterans.

The monument is made of polished granite and stands at 6 feet long, 3 feet high, and 4 inches in width.
