For the past five years on POW/MIA Recognition day, Chapter 1052 , of Independence, LA has held a special memorial service.
The occasion brings together a variety of veterans who served in various wars, as well as a diversity of veteran organizations, including the Associates of Vietnam Veterans of America, to honor veterans, prisoners of war and soldiers missing in action.
There were approximately 250 in attendance, of which 100-150 were veterans.
The memorial service included a reading of the 24 missing in action soldiers from Louisiana, a helicopter presentation, guest speakers and music performances. The ceremony was concluded with ‘Taps’ and a 21-gun salute.
